This book is an excellent overview of the field. The chapter authors are leading authorities in their field of suicidology and their conclusions are well documented. This is an excellent reference including all the important information for the general practitioner as well as summaries of the key literature for those who specialize in suicide prevention. It also includes many practical concepts that can be incorporated into treatment and program development. The collection may be too detailed for many general practitioners wanting an efficient overview but could serve as a good reference source.

The book is structured in 10 chapters providing different conceptual analyses of the field. Four chapters focus on the epidemiology of youth suicide, cross-cultural perspectives on suicide, suicide attempts, and follow-up studies of youth who have attempted suicide.
